Data.europa.eu, the official portal for data on Europe, offers courses as part of the data.europa.eu academy to promote data literacy around open data. con terra has held a number of webinars on geospatial topics at data.europa academy.
Together with 52°North, con terra manages the part of data.europa.eu that concerns geodata: geoharvesting, gazetteers and the visualisation of geodata and real-time data. In this context, we regularly identify current trends in the geodata community and analyse their potential impact on the European Data Portal.

The 2024 Geospatial Trends Report offers an analysis of the latest advancements in geospatial data, with this year’s focus on geospatial digital twins.
Webinar
On 13 September 2024 at 10:00 a.m., the webinar ‘Geospatial trends 2024: opportunities for data.europa.eu in the era of digital twins’ took place as part of the data.europa academy. The webinar focused on the topic of digital twins. After a presentation introducing the topic, the online participants discussed the relevance of digital twins for data.europa.eu. The following questions were answered:
- What opportunities does this trend present for data.europa.eu?
- How can data.europa.eu utilise the technology?
- How could data.europa.eu support the use of digital twins?
