A retrospective view of the Esri Conference 2021

Four exciting days of the Esri Conference 2021 for the D-A-CH region are already behind us. As the largest GIS conference in the German-speaking region, this year's purely virtual event was once again an important source of inspiration for over 5,000 registered attendees. In a mixture of live keynotes, expert talks, success stories and tech sessions, the main topics of sustainability, new work and modern lifestyles were examined from different perspectives. We enjoyed listening to Ait Si Abbou Lyandini's talk about the use of artificial intelligence, let climate researcher Prof. Dr. Markus Rex take us with him on his expedition to the Arctic and were inspired by Aya Jaff and her vision of the future of digitalisation. The event was kicked off by the three hosts Esri Germany and Switzerland as well as SynerGIS in person of their Managing Partners Jürgen Schomakers, Peter Jäger and Peter Remesch, who gave insights into the vision of Esri and set the mood for the upcoming conference programme.

As a Premium Partner of the Esri Conference 2021, we were very pleased to have the opportunity to actively participate in the varied programme. We presented our digital solution for the real estate management of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (LIMA.NRW) in a 15-minute talk followed by a live Q&A. The LIMA.NRW property management system supports the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in creating transparency within the administration regarding the large number of state-owned parcels of land that are under distributed responsibility and in activating the dispensable properties in a targeted manner.

Moreover, we would like to take this opportunity to once again thank the hosts for the invitation to the studio. In a partner talk, our Managing Director Uwe König was live on site and discussed future topics in the geomarket.

Digital networking

Every year, the Esri Conference not only attracts participants with exciting presentations and informative tech sessions, but also with networking. By including an interactive geo-quiz and the possibility to ask questions live, the dialogue between the participants and the experts was also promoted digitally. The sense of community was strengthened by the organisation of a virtual Esri FunRun. Spread across the German speaking region, but still together, interested people ran kilometres for a good cause.

After four days of conference, we would like to thank everyone for the exciting exchange and take many fascinating ideas with us into our current and future projects. Strengthened with new knowledge, we look forward to tackling the challenges of tomorrow with Esri technology and are excited to see which innovative projects will be born from the impulses of this conference.
