INTERGEO 2026

GeoAI Is Becoming a Reality

The three-day INTERGEO event in Munich demonstrated just how dynamically the field of GeoIT is evolving. Artificial intelligence, digital twins, and the intelligent interconnection of data were central themes in many discussions and presentations. A particular highlight was the keynote address by Esri founder and president Jack Dangermond, who emphasized the importance of geoinformation and GIS in addressing the major challenges of our time.

At the con terra booth, the focus was on GeoAI, digital twins, and digital sovereignty. With Spatial Document Intelligence, we demonstrated the specific potential that AI offers for existing datasets: vision-language models recognize and extract spatial information from documents, plans, and scans. Using FME, this data is structured, quality-assured, and made usable for GIS and specialized systems—for example, when digitizing construction files or technical inventory documents.

Our product topics also generated a great deal of interest: FME for intelligent data integration, automation, and AI-powered workflows, as well as ArcGIS for geodata management, analytics, and digital twins. con terra Technologies—including security.manager, map.apps, smart.finder SDI, and service.monitor—complements these platforms with solutions for secure data access, modern geoportals, and the reliable operation of GeoIT infrastructures.

At the INTERGEO Conference, Marc Kleemann demonstrated in his presentation, “GeoIT in an AI-Driven World”, how GeoAI, digital twins, BIM, and cloud technologies are converging to unlock new data potential. The many conversations we had at our booth made one thing clear: It is crucial to intelligently integrate new technologies with existing data, systems, and processes to create tangible added value.

Many thanks to everyone who visited us in Munich for the exciting discussions and new ideas!

Save the Date: We recommend marking October 12–14, 2027, in Frankfurt am Main on your calendar right now. We look forward to seeing you again!
