Successful FME UC in Vancouver

Vancouver. This year's international FME User Conference (FME UC) from Safe Software was also a complete success for con terra. Twelve data integration experts from con terra traveled to the Canadian metropolis and experienced the event, which this year was held under the motto "The Peak of Data Integration".

The User Conference offered training, presentations and expert discussions in the technology base camp around the data integration platform FME in more than 100 program points. In addition, the international FME Partner Meeting was held to kick off the conference week.
With a pre-conference workshop and ten presentations, con terra's FME experts participated extensively in the conference program. In addition to the very well-attended training session "Powering up your FME Workspaces with Python" by Tino Miegel and Dennis Wilhelm, the technical presentations also met with great interest among the audience. The spectrum of topics ranged from CityGML integration in the ArcGIS Platform to the effective management of workspaces with FME WorkspaceSearch developed by con terra and the creation of Apple IMDF datasets with FME.

Two con terra customers also presented exciting practical examples. Deutsche Telekom IT, for example, impressively demonstrated how it uses FME to automatically provide geodata in the company in a modern cloud architecture. The German Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) presented how the FME platform was used to create Europe-wide map-based real-time situation images in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Another crowd puller was the FunZone sponsored by con terra, where participants had a lot of fun with various games during the breaks. In con terra's popular "Beat the Lizard" challenge, users were able to put their FME skills to the test in terms of speed and creativity.

A highlight and special conclusion of an exciting and eventful conference week was the closing plenary with Don Murray and Dale Lutz, the founders and CEOs of Safe Software. Besides promising announcements for future FME versions, they also announced the next big event highlight: the FME UC Europe 2023! Previously known as FMEdays, the conference will be co-hosted by Safe Software and con terra next year and will take place from September 04-06, 2023 at the World Conference Center in Bonn, Germany. We will announce details and further information about the event on our website in due time.

Not only the exciting program made the conference a success: Numerous new and especially personal encounters, networking with FME users and other partners from all over the world, new impulses and ideas rounded off the week.
