Esri User Conference 2022

Finally, the time had come again. After two years, the Esri community met again at the Esri User Conference in San Diego. With an impressive kick-off event, Jack Dangermond, founder and president of Esri Inc. inspired the audience at the Convention Center. More than 14,000 GIS experts from all over the world listened to him on site and were inspired by current projects, past achievements and the visions of Esri Inc. A digital participation was possible as well. Interested parties connected worldwide, once again turning the conference into the largest GIS event in the world.

Under the topic "GIS-Mapping Common Ground" a joint basis was created - by networking, by knowledge transfer and of course by the exchange of experiences. Besides the presentation of innovations, many best practice examples were given. The perfect foundation to get inspired on how GIS technology can be used to meet current challenges.

Superpowers for GIS Admins

As a bronze sponsor and exhibitor at the UC Expo, con terra was present as well. The central topic was the smart, easy and secure provision of geodata in ArcGIS. Under the slogan "Superpowers for GIS Admins", the security.manager functions were promoted, which enable GIS administrators to automate repeating tasks, simplify processes and thus create the space for them to unfold their true potential. We were very delighted to see the large number of visitors at our booth, as well as the vivid interest in the functionalities of security.manager.

Furthermore, our con terra evening at The Deck was once again a great success. In a laid-back atmosphere, we were able to end the Tuesday evening together with customers, partners and interested parties discussing the current trends in the GIS industry over a cold drink and delicious food.

After all, apart from the exhibition and the contact to interested parties at the Esri UC, the exchange of knowledge and the direct contact with Esri Inc. and other partners is of great importance. For con terra, it is crucial to keep informed about the new technical possibilities in ArcGIS in order to apply this knowledge to our customers' projects. Only in this way we can guarantee that current developments are taken into account at an early stage in the product and solution architecture of our customers.

Above and beyond this, the Esri User Conference is a place of inspiration, and this was exactly what the face-to-face event was able to convey in the best possible way this year. In the halls, lecture rooms, at the evening events and during the lunch breaks, there was an atmosphere of curiosity and inventiveness , a thirst for knowledge and the anticipation of putting everything learned into practice. In hundreds of lectures, seminars, user contributions, presentations and technical workshops, which form the core of the UC, the participants were given useful input and a solid foundation for the implementation of their own ideas. The thought of community was also in the foreground at various social events, such as the morning 5K Fun Run or the Family Night, and so our colleagues came back to Münster not only with many new ideas, but also with many newly established contacts. Running all together is not only better 5 km before the start of the conference, but also much more can be achieved with GIS.
