Review on the Esri European Developer Summit 2022
Review on the Esri European Developer Summit 2022
To our delight, the European Developer Summit took place again this year as a face-to-face event. Under the motto "for developers, by developers", this three-day event took place from 14 to 16 November in Berlin and was primarily focused on acquiring knowledge of the latest technological possibilities of the ArcGIS system (with a developer focus) and exchanging ideas within the developer community.
The conference
With more than 450 participants from 42 different countries, this year's European Developer Summit was the best-attended European summit of the organiser Esri Inc. in 2022. The direct exchange with the software provider was ensured by the broad participation of more than 40 Esri employees from 11 distributors and R&D centres. We here at con terra did not miss this opportunity and were there with 24 of our developers.
The conference kicked off with a three-hour plenary in which the new technological highlights of the various ArcGIS products were presented. After these spotlights, interested attendees were able to find out more about individual innovations and their technical implementation in more than 70 technical sessions. For us, this was the opportunity to get up to date on the innovations regarding the technologies ArcGIS API for JavaScript, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS API for Python, ArcGIS GeoAnalytics Engine, 3D options in the ArcGIS System, ArcGIS Runtime, ArcGIS Online, Arcade and many more and to exchange experiences with other developers.
con terra at the European DevSummit
The European Developer Summit is of great importance to con terra, as it enables the European developer community to exchange ideas and provides the space to highlight technological issues from a European perspective. For this reason, we support the event as an annual sponsor. In addition, we were able to actively shape the programme of the summit again this year: In addition to our own presentations, we were also represented with a booth at the conference.
At our booth we offered interested developers insights into our range of services for the ArcGIS system and presented complementary technologies. At the Speedgeeking in the evening, con terra employee Stefan Blume also presented monitoring options for ArcGIS Server using Elastic Search.
We were represented with two presentations at the user presentations and reported in the well-attended sessions "ArcGIS Enterprise Migration Strategies" and "Utilising Arcade in the ArcGIS API for JavaScript" about our project experiences with the migration of ArcGIS Enterprise deployments as well as the new possibilities of Arcade in the ArcGIS API for JavaScript. Especially the ArcGIS migration strategies were on the minds of many participants of the summit. A topic that was also in high demand at our booth and where con terra can offer concrete support options even for very specific challenges.
All in all, the three days on site showed us how important direct, personal exchange is. Having a lot of new information and innovations with us, we are now starting to work on our projects again, so that our customers and project partners can also benefit from the newly generated knowledge.
Thank you Esri, for this inspiring conference. We are already looking forward to next year.
